Overview

The Faraja Rafting Challenge is an annual event organized by the Faraja Cancer Support Trust to raise funds and awareness for people affected by cancer. The challenge brings together organizations and teams in a fun, adventurous, and meaningful activity, with proceeds supporting Faraja’s holistic care programs, including patient support, education, and complementary therapies.

Objectives

The platform was designed to promote and manage the annual rafting challenge, enabling participant registration and team management online. It also serves to raise funds and awareness for cancer support programs, while sharing updates, results, and stories from the event.

Key Decisions

The website was built using Next.js and Sanity CMS to create a fast, responsive, and easily managed platform for handling registrations and content updates. Secure donation and registration integrations were implemented to facilitate participant sign-ups and fundraising. The design was fully responsive to ensure usability across desktop and mobile devices, and the site’s storytelling and branding highlighted the event’s mission and impact to inspire participation.

Delivery Approach

The project was delivered in phases: content strategy and event structure mapping, website design and development, registration and donation integration, followed by testing and launch. Regular coordination with the Faraja team ensured alignment with branding and event goals.

Business Impact

The event engaged over 200 participants annually across more than 15 organizations, increasing public awareness of Faraja’s programs and mission. It generated significant funds to support cancer patients and families while simplifying registration, tracking, and communication for event organizers.
