Pet Vault App

Overview

Pet Vault is a mobile-first platform designed to simplify pet management for both owners and veterinarians. Pet owners can register pets, store and organize health and ownership records, set reminders for vaccinations and appointments, and securely share or transfer pet profiles. Veterinarians can access shared pet profiles, view medical histories, and engage directly with pet owners for consultations. The app also features an admin dashboard for user and vet management, including verification, account activation/deactivation, and data oversight, ensuring platform trust and reliability.

Key Decisions

React Native: Chosen to build a cross-platform mobile app with a single codebase, ensuring consistent performance and a smooth experience on both Android and iOS. Expo: Used to simplify app development, testing, and deployment. Expo provides built-in tools for handling updates, permissions, push notifications, and media uploads without complex native configurations. Firebase Authentication: Implemented to provide secure and reliable login and user management for pet owners, veterinarians, and admins. Firebase Firestore & Storage: Used to manage real-time data (pets, users, reminders) and securely store uploaded pet records and documents.

Delivery Approach

Developed using an Agile methodology with iterative sprints. The first phase delivered pet registration, record management, and reminders. The second phase introduced vet registration and verification, pet sharing, and ownership transfer. Admin dashboard and vet-owner communication features were finalized before the app’s public release on Android and iOS.
